“If you don’t take the job seriously, you will die.” Mappa & Shueisha has released a third official trailer for an anime series titled Chainsaw Man, premiering in October in Japan and streaming on Crunchyroll in the US sometime later in 2022. Seems like the kind of anime that would come from the mind of Sam Raimi or straight out of the Evil Dead universe. , But it is far from being the case. Following a betrayal, a young man named Denji gone to the dead is reborn as a powerful devil-human hybrid after merging with his pet demon and is soon enlisted in an organization dedicated to hunting “devils”. It is adapted from the manga of Tatsuki Fujimoto. Denji eventually joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a government agency focused on fighting demons whenever they become a threat to the world. With the voices of Kikunosuke Toya like Denji, Tomori Kusunoki like Makima, Shogo Sakata like Aki Hayakawa, and Fairouz Ai like Power. Seems like it’s completely off the rails – some highly R-rated horror anime are splattered with blood galore. Set it on fire.

Official presentation: Denji (Kikunosuke Toya) is a poor young man who would do anything for money, even to hunt demons with his evil dog Pochita. He’s a simple man with simple dreams, drowning in a mountain of debt. But his sad life is turned upside down one day when he is betrayed by someone he trusts. Now, with the power of a demon inside him, Denji has become a whole new man: Chainsaw Man! Chainsaw Man is an anime series adapted from the manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto. With episodes directed by the filmmaker Ryu Nakayama, an animator taking on a project for the first time after directing a few episodes of “Yatterman Night” and “The Rising of the Shield Hero” before. With a screenplay written by Hiroshi Seko (Mob Psycho 100; Jujutsu Kaisen). Character designed by Kazutaka Sugiyama, plus Tatsuya Yoshihara as action director. With music by Kensuke Ushio (A silent voice; crybaby devilman). The anime will debut in Japan from October 2022. Crunchyroll will later reveal the Chainsaw Man anime for streaming on the service sometime in late 2022 (or 2023?). Head to official Japanese website.
